Rush Wisconsin Southeast Welcomes Athletic Club Toros as Super Y League Partner

Rush Wisconsin Southeast announced today plans for the 2022 Summer Super Y season by naming Athletic Club (AC) Toros (Milwaukee Kickers SC), based in Southern Milwaukee County, as a partner for the season. The collaboration will allow for exchanges of coaches and players who are interested in playing competitive games throughout the summer months.  AC Toros will supply three coaches, at minimum, to the Rush Wisconsin Southeast staff and be available to assist with multiple age groups.

“We at Rush Wisconsin Southeast are honored to partner with AC Toros, and particularly David Nikolic, for the 2022 summer Super Y season,” said Vlatko Minic, Rush Wisconsin Southeast Technical Director.  “David brings experience, professionalism, and history in developing elite soccer players and elite soccer programs, from his family’s establishment of the Milwaukee Kickers SC to his coaching resume at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Northwestern University, and the University of Illinois-Chicago.  This is a great opportunity not just for players within our two organizations, but also from surrounding clubs who want a high level, competitive soccer experience over the summer from which to return to their home club in the fall a better, stronger soccer player.”

Under the auspices of the United Soccer League, Super Y is a national summer soccer conference that allows for competitive matchups against regional clubs.  The Super Y season runs from mid-June through early August, and the opportunity to extend the soccer season through the summer months serves to further develop soccer skills via training sessions and games against high quality opponents.  In this way, Super Y supplements rather than replaces the existing club team to which players will return for the 2022-2023 season.  In 2021, five Rush Wisconsin Southeast teams competed in the Super Y Midwest bracket, and two teams (2009 Girls, 2005/2006 Girls) successfully qualified for the national finals in Tampa, FL, this past December.

"We are excited to partner with Rush Wisconsin Southeast and especially Vlatko Minic," David Nikolic, Director of Sport and Development for Athletic Club Toros, said. "I have known Vlatko for decades, and I think that I still have some bruises from when he used to kick me in games back in the day! This is a great person and will be a great partner as AC Toros looks to offer a full year 'menu' of soccer choices to our membership. Summertime in Southeastern Wisconsin is a great time to be outdoors, and this is a logical option and location for us to collaborate with players and coaches for a healthy and competitive environment."

The program will include 2 team trainings per week and 7-9 league games.  Cost is $395 for U11-U12 and $495 for U13-U19.

Super Y tryouts will be held on February 23rd and 24th, on the indoor turf fields at the Real School, 10116 Stellar Ave, Sturtevant, WI, as follows:
